This herzim trim fitting tool helps simplify the process of fitting herzim trims and screw cover strips into Aluminium rails on your caravan or motorhome. As these trims are wider than the opening in your Aluminium rail, they are often very difficult and time consuming to install. This tool helps simplify this process allowing you to easily push and roll the new trim into the rail.
It is suitable for use with most herzim trims, including those that are 10mm, 11mm, 12mm 13mm, 15mm and 17mm wide.
Fitting Instructions
To remove the old herzim trim, use the metal hook to lift the end of the strip out of the rail by a couple of inches. This will allow you to hold onto the end and slowly pull the entire section out of the channel.
With the old section removed, you may want to clean the Aluminium channel with an Aluminium cleaner to remove the dirt. This will help restore the rails original appearance.
Start by squeezing part of the herzim trim into the end of the rail. You will then need to tuck one side of the trim until one lip in the Aluminium rail. For example, if you are fitting the trim into a horizontal rail, you may tuck the bottom edge of the herzim trim under the bottom lip in the Aluminium rail. Then, use the roller to press the other side of the herzim trim under the other lip in the channel. For example, pushing the top side of the herzim trim under the top lip on the Aluminium rail.
When fitting the new trim, we recommend leaving a couple of inches hanging out of the end of the channel. This will allow for shrinkage if the trim is stretched during fitting. You will be able to cut off any excess with a pair of scissors after a few days.
